Questions we intend to study

  • How are village and local councils organised in neighbouring countries, and what does that suggest for comparison with Panchayati Raj?
  • Bihar shares a border with Nepal: what questions about cross-border rural life can be studied responsibly, and with which sources?
  • Which comparisons are meaningful, and which would mislead because laws, data and histories differ?
